Browser / Version: Firefox 64.0
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.13
Tested Another Browser: Yes
Problem type: Design is broken
Description: Text in footnote popup is cut off
Steps to Reproduce:
- Click the “1” button about two-thirds of the way through the article. This will activate a popup that shows the content of a footnote.
- Scroll the popup down as far as it will go.
Expected behavior: The end of the footnote text is visible.
Actual behavior: The last line of text in the footnote shows a fade effect and is unreadable.
Notes:
This site uses Bigfoot to turn footnote references into buttons that display the footnote text in a popup. Under Firefox 64.0, but not under Safari 12.0.2 or Chrome 69.0.3497.81, the last line of text in the footnote is unreadable because there is a fade effect applied to it. I’m not sure whether the exact problem is that the fade element is supposed to disappear when you reach the bottom of the popup or just that there’s not enough empty space in the scrollable area below the footnote text.
Footnotes display correctly when they’re short enough that no scroll bar is displayed.
The problem is also apparent on sites that use Littlefoot, a fork of Bigfoot.
